12:01 am - Where was I?
We had a half day that day I don’t remember why I was just glad to get out of school early that day like any kid would. I knew about the launch that day, I had grown into a real space kid by 8th grade with dreams of one day riding a rocket into space. The sky was blue and ground covered in snow I raced down the mile to my house to catch the launch. Into the house with no time to spare I flipped on the television to see it go up and to see it behave in a way it hasn’t before. It was confusing at first, for the TV announcer as well. No one was quite sure what had happened, but by hours end we all knew that the dreams of seven souls had died.

11:59 pm - A decade done!
So my daughter is now a decade old. Ten was an interesting year for me; I was in my final year of grammar school. The fifth grade like all other years did not bold well for me I was still technically the new kid having start at my third and final grammar school a month into 4th grade. My daughter on the other hand has been consistently in the same school since pre-K (which did not exist during my time), she has never known the bummer it is to be the new kid, she’s very lucky. She still has one more year to go since a January birth required her to start school slightly older then most. She does have some issues but when 5th grade is done next year she’ll have spent 7 years in the same school with a very loving and caring staff. Ten will be a much better time for her then for me.

4:42 pm - Disappointed
It looks like I'm not going to get to see Kevin Smiths new film Zack and Miri Make A Porno in theaters. I was probably looking more forward to this then any other film in recent years. It would have capped off such a phenominal run this year as well, to date I've been to the theater 12 times in 2008. I have not had a run like this since probably 1995, it's just been amazing to enough life in that way again. I love getting lost in film especially in the cinema where phones and family can't abruptly end one's escape.
The run did my morale very well though, so much so that I'm going to make an effort to see as many if not more films in 2009. In fact the slate is already filling up; Underworld 2, Terminator 4, Star Trek, Watchmen, Land of the Lost, Harry Potter, Fan Boys, G.I. Joe, Transformers 2 and Wolverine are on my list in '09 so far.

8:49 pm - Holy Christmas Batman!
With the ferocious quickness, in which the entire community has put up their Christmas decorations I can only guess that they are all living out the story or Mame. In the 36 Decembers I have never since so much of Christmas pop up so fast (outside of retail). But perhaps poverty is not the only reason for such an over abundance of decked halls, maybe the recent election have kindled just a little bit of hope and joy in this apathetic society of our.

10:37 pm - Blah Friday
Black Friday is typically a big day in retail even in a bad economy, but being on the edge of the industry there's really not much for me to do except correct the mistakes for others. On the upside I was able to work much earlier in the day then I normally would which allowed me to get home early. We normally put Chanukmas on the Friday after Turkey day, but the contractors showed up today to work despite our direct request not to and really put a hindrance to our effort. I did get the tree up and the out side lights on, but decorating the tree will have to wait a day or two.

10:27 pm - No jive turkey!
Another Thanksgiving has come and gone without much distress. Things went pretty well this year despite my parents canceling on us. My Father-In-Law failed to move this year as planner so held the dinner at his house. We were able to plan things out better this year then last so all went a lot smoother. I was able to maintain my monkey Thursday tradition, with the original Kong, Son of and Mighty Joe Young. The only downside to Thanksgiving this year is it starts a week later then last so we miss out on an extended Christmas season.

10:09 am - Got Change?
I'm still enjoying yesterday's victory, mind you not of a one party over another. I've never subscribed to the left or right bullshit. For me it's always been about the individual and like all elections before who I voted for came right down to the wire. In fact the only definate for me would have been if Clinton had gone all the way. It's not that I don't like her or that I thought she wasn't qualified for the job, in fact my feelings are just the opposite about her. I would not vote for her for the same reason I would not have voted for a Bush, or a Kennedy. We are suppose to exist in a society free of the monarchy and yet quite often it's the same family who are constantly holding the most powerful positions in our government, going back as far the Adams of colonial America. So no matter how much I may like someone running if they belong to a family that's already held the power I would never give them my vote. Obama presents change in a very significant way in that he's a rookie and not a professional politician or part of the american monarchy. I hope he does a great job, I hope I can feel justified voting for him a second time and I hope no one in his family ever runs for office, cause I'll never vote for them. It's the only way to make change stick.

11:49 pm - Halloween 2008
Another Halloween has come and gone, unfortunately this one pulled me from my normal routine. Between the contractors and my wife' s bad back/leg my usual ritual routine of DVD monster marathons and doling out candies to Trick or Treater's was abruptly cut short. I spent the bulk of my time escorting my daughter around my fathers development for her second and third round of candy seeking. This is a task that's suppose to be shared amongst the whole family but my parents copped out early, my wife's leg failed her and my step-son never showed. My daughter was quite happy with her adventure and that's the most important thing.

11:45 pm - Finally something positive to say about W.
Oliver Stone's flick W. was a pretty good flick. Rather then a direct attack on him, he was portrayed as a tragic clueless figure. I hope Stone gets an Oscar nod for this.

2:28 pm - Bored, tired and trapped!
We're having the basement renovated this week and I've been asked by the matriarch of the family to hang around and serve as liaison to the contractors. This request has no left me sitting around the house for th majority of the week (rather then out at work) with absolutely nothing to do. The noise create by work distracted too greatly for me to enjoy tv, video games or reading. My house chores are also at a stand still since the workers have pretty much occupied all the areas of the property where I need to go. Getting the basment fixed up good, sitting around while the work is being done bad.

12:15 am - Eagle Eye
I just got back from seeing Eagle Eye. I really wasn't interested in seeing the flick but I had a free ticket that was about to expire and it was the only thing at my local theater that looked remotely interesting. It was better then the trailer would lead on to believe, by that it looked like just another Matrix ripoff. Of course the plot was very similar to WarGame: The Dead Code which came out earlier this year although WarGames had a moe satisfying ending in my opinion.

2:45 pm - Week of nothing.
I've decided that after the hell and stress that was Wild Wood and Dallas that this will be a week of minimal effort. When I'm not at work or caring for my daughter I intend to do nothing but veg. This will allow me to regain my strength for next week when Fall schedules kick in, which allows me greater freedom in tackling big projects.
